How to choose a CCTV system in Sri Lanka

Start with the job each camera must do, rather than a camera count or the largest resolution number. A useful system needs suitable views, dependable power, a recording plan and a clear installation scope. Use this checklist before choosing individual products or an installed package.

Plan the views you need

List the entrances, counter, parking area or other places you need to monitor. Explain whether you need a broad overview or useful detail at a particular distance. Mounting height, lens choice, lighting and obstructions affect the result; a wide view does not automatically provide identification detail everywhere.

Look at the actual site at night as well as during the day. Ask which lighting mode the exact camera supports, and discuss the effect of its supplementary light before deciding where it should face.

Check the route for video and power

Compare wired analog cameras, IP cameras and Wi-Fi or 4G options against the property. Plan cable routes and power points before choosing a recorder. Wireless describes the data connection: a Wi-Fi camera may still need an adapter and a nearby power source. Battery and solar operation are model-specific.

For a network system, check recorder inputs, camera stream support, network capacity and any PoE power requirements together. Matching a brand name or counting network ports is not enough.

Compare the complete purchase

Decide how you will review recordings and how much footage you want to retain. Confirm storage, recording settings, display and remote-viewing requirements. Internet service and any cellular data plan should be considered separately from the equipment price.

Read each package item list and installation terms. Confirm cable allowance, additional work, transport and the warranty shown for selected items. Equipment-only and installation packages cover different work. Ask H Zone to check the models and site before accepting the final quote.
